Serj Tankian is an Armenian-American singer, most commonly known as the vocalist for alternative metal band System of a Down. In October 2007, he released his first solo album Elect the Dead. Besides writing poetry and music, Tankian is known for his political activism. He immediately responded to 9/11 with an essay, he wrote the song "Fears" for Amnesty International in 2008, and frequently talks discusses political issues on his radio show, Axis of Justice.
