Fusing the name of the band's two founders, Pete Harper and J.Blynn, Harper Blynn is a four-piece based out of Brooklyn. With a focus on polished pop hooks, catchy melodies and optimistic lyrics, Harper Blynn differs from the majority of the indie bands coming out of Brooklyn that generally lean towards the lo-fi DIY aesthetic and angsty lyrics. Formed in 2008, the band immediately captured the attention of producer David Kahne, known for his work with The Strokes--which the band has been compared to--and subsequently released its debut full-length with Kahne's help. The result was somewhat of a crossover album able to please fans of indie pop and more mainstream rock, thus securing Harper Blynn a more permanent spot in New York's ever-evolving music scene.
