Born and raised in Noxville, TN Rodney Atkins is a country music singer/songwriter who traveled to the nearby city of Nashville to pursue a music career in the mid 1990s. By 1997 he released his debut single "In a Heartbeat," which spent a week at number 74 on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, but waited until 2003 to release his first full-length effort, Honesty. The album's title track became his first top ten single, but the record itself was received with mixed reviews for sounding similar to other modern country musicians. Atkins released his follow-up album If Your Going Through Hell in 2006 with a less produced sound and narrative lyrics, resulting in an honest effort with a title track that would go on to become his first number one hit.
