The Swell Season is an Irish folk-rock duo consisting of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. The two met in 2003 while working on the film Once, and soon after began collaborating musically. The Swell Season released their debut album, Strict Joy, in 2009, which was met with critical acclaim. The album featured the hit single "Low Rising," which was nominated for a Grammy Award. The Swell Season's music is a blend of folk, rock, and pop, with Hansard's emotive vocals and Irglová's ethereal harmonies. Their lyrics are often introspective and poetic, exploring themes of love, loss, and longing. The duo has toured extensively throughout Europe and North America, and has performed at festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Glastonbury. The Swell Season's discography includes two studio albums, Strict Joy and Into the Deep, as well as a live album, The Swell Season Live at the Olympia. The duo has also released several EPs, including The Swell Season and This Low Commotion. The Swell Season's music has been featured in films, television shows, and commercials, and has been covered by a variety of artists.
