You'd be hard-pressed to find a more drum-centric indie rock group working these days than Pick a Piper. The Canadian-born group is led by the intensely dexterous drumming of Brad Weber, a veteran musician who moonlights as the touring drummer for Dan Snaith in his Caribou project. Weber's lightning quick, tribal-style drumming is coupled with another full-time drummer playing alongside him on a separate kit, creating a constant wall of danceable, poly-rhythmic beats. Accompanying the impressive drum workouts is the equally effective songwriting of the rest of the band, that couples the visceral vibe with excursions into guitar-based psychedelic rock and African-tinged indie pop.
