Meshing the worlds of funk, alternative rock and ska, Bop Skizzum has been impressing Denver audiences since first forming in 1999. The seven-piece sought to create the type of sound and setup Parliament Funkadelic was known for, one that had a solid core group of talented musicians but also included a variety of guest vocalists and instrumentalists. However, Bop Skizzum expands upon the aforementioned collective's horn-heavy funk, adding in carefree pop punk style lyrics crooned by front woman Erin Jo Harris, as well as alternative rock guitar riffs. While the group is mostly known in its home state, it has been asked by many prominent bands touring through the area to open for them, helping to expand Bop Skizzum's fan base.
