One of the original bands of the Elephant 6 collective--along with Neutral Milk Hotel and Apples in Stereo--The Olivia Tremor Control enjoyed the height of its underground fame in the late 1990s. The band was able to fuse experimental noise tendencies, tape loops, and avant-pop into a surprisingly palatable and unique style that won it a cult following that persists to this day. Though the Athens, Georgia-based group split in 2000, its members remained active in other bands and solo projects, most notably forming somewhat of a super group with Neutral Milk Hotel called Circulatory System. The Olivia Tremor Control has since reunited, initially only to tour, but in 2011 announced the release of a new album as well, much to the delight of its devoted fans.
