The Books

Because of tendencies that often find the New York-based experimental band The Books sounding rather, well, experimental, some have said that the group's music is aleatoric. While this might have some merit, it doesn't account for the intricately arranged compositions that comprise the majority of the tunes created by The Books. The group is considered folktronica by some, because a good deal of acoustic or folk instruments are used in samples, but genre branding is difficult with The Books and nearly impossible.
