Though Paul Banks is best known as the lead singer for the seminal 2000s alt rock band Interpol, in his solo musical endeavors, Banks is able to concentrate on crafting songs that revolve around his first love: poetry. With Interpol, the different personalities that comprise the band oftentimes create an amalgam of noise that's difficult to sift through and discern meaning from. But with his solo material, Banks (who performs under the moniker Julian Plenti, on occasion) is able to flesh out songs and convey personal messages with his introspective lyrics and characteristic baritone voice.
