The Boston-based experimental rock band Mission of Burma was formed in 1979 and lasted until 1983 only to reform in 2002. The band's initial success, brought about by its first EP, Signals, Calls and Marches, as well as its 1982 debut album, Vs., was trumped by guitarist and co-vocalist Roger Miller's case of tinnitus, which forced its members to focus on other projects. Mission of Bruma reunited in 2002 with Bob Weston taking over as sound engineer/sculptor/manipulator for founder Martin Swope, and released its live album Snapshots. Using both a modern digital looping box as well as analog tape loops, Weston helped the band fuse indie rock into its post punk sound by adding an indistinguishable dimension to Mission of Burma's noise rock sound with unpredictable recordings and samples of various instruments.
