Hailing from Iceland, GusGus was initially conceived as an artist collective made up of musicians, producers, filmmakers, visual artists and performers. The group slowly turned its focus to electronic music composition, earning acclaim for its clean synths, funky bass lines and striking artwork. After releasing three studio albums, starting with the 1995 self-titled debut, GusGus stripped down to its sonic basics as the film and art legs of the group split off. Weaving elements of techno and trip-hop into a house music foundation, the band continues to expand its reach into national audiences with records such as 2014's Mexico.
