Giovanni Gabrieli

Giovanni Gabrieli is an essential composer from the late 1500s and the turn of the century. Some of the details of his life are not known, but he is believed to have been born in Venice. His contributions to the Venitian school of the time helped shape the musical shift from the Renaissance to the Baroque periods. He dabbled in all different styles throughout his lifetime, but ultimately preferred sacred vocal and instrumental compositions.
