Though the New York City-based group Liquid Liquid created songs that are typically void of memorable choruses or hook-y guitar riffs, during its heyday in the early-1980s, the band still managed to get its songs played by prominent DJs at a staggering amount of dance clubs. Originally only active from 1980 to 1983, Liquid Liquid would create tracks that were predominantly groove based and set up around a pulsating rhythmic beat, complete with thumping bass guitar and percussion accompaniments. Influenced by funk and dub nearly as much as it was by the DIY punk scene, the group managed to create a well-respected reputation for itself amongst many music aficionados. Though the band broke up shortly after its creation, it will occasionally reunite to play rare live shows.
