Led by the almost cartoon-like personality that is Nardwuar the Human Serviette, The Evaporators fall squarely into the sillier side of punk rock. The Vancouver, Canada-based outfit has been around since 1986, entertaining audiences with its wacky spin on pop punk and garage rock, which is punctuated with bratty vocals, organ blasts and over-the-top pro-Canada garb. Though still very far from a household name, some of the band's members have become involved with other, more widely-known projects, such as bassist John Collins' work with indie power pop favorites, The New Pornographers. Anyone looking for a punk-fueled version of rock and roll that doesn't even come close to taking itself too seriously will be sure to enjoy The Evaporators.
