Having evolved from its first form as a six-piece ensemble of drummers creating punk music devoid of melodies, Man Forever has streamlined its drum performance and began using electric techniques to fill in the composition. The mastermind behind Man Forever, John Colpitts stripped down the drum ensemble to two drummers who, while operating on a single drum set, create a constant stream of patterns that are fulfilled with the use of electronic instruments such as bass tracks and electric guitars. The band released a two-track effort titled Pansophical Cataract in 2012, demonstrating dramatic and droning avant-garde music heavily inspired by the melody-less noise of Man Forever's main influence, Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music.
