Widely considered to be one of the greatest selling R&B artists of all time, Toni Braxton is a singer/songwriter, producer and actress from Maryland who emerged in the late 1980s. She caught the attention of mainstream audiences with her self-titled debut in 1993 and spent the next decade releasing a string of number one songs and albums, including 1996's Secrets, which spawned the international hit "Un-Break My Heart," and 2000's The Heat., an album that would mark the beginning of Braxton's shift from R&B to hip-hop, soul and dance music. Though her notoriety waned into the decade, she made a noticeable come back with her 2009 hit single, "Yesterday," and subsequent 2010 number one album, Pulse. Despite a brief stint in reality television with her show Braxton Family Values, which debuted in 2011, Braxton will be remembered for her distinct, raspy vocal stylings.
