During the rise of female R&B artists of the 1990s, Brandy Norwood captured the attention of the world with a pair of debut hit singles, "I Wanna Be Down" and "Baby," in 1994. Still a fresh-faced teenager, she adopted her mononymous alias and released her self-titled album Brandy, with Atlantic Records later the same year. She landed her first starring role as the title character in Moesha, a UPN sitcom that lasted for six seasons, and went on to appear in various films, including I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and the 1997 film Cinderella. She made a return to music with the smash hit, "The Boy Is Mine," a duet with fellow R&B vocalist Monica that was featured on her sophomore effort, Never Say Never. Though her mainstream popularity waned into the 21st century with her personal life overshadowing her music, Brandy continues to evolve her contemporary style through a steady stream of records, including 2008's Human and 2012's Two Eleven.
