When The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion formed in 1991, all the members of the band had pretty respectable backgrounds within the lo-fi rock scene. However, when the Explosion came together, the musicians wanted to pursue a more quintessential rock 'n' roll sound with strong influences from early blues as well as 1990s alternative rock.
