Tomasz Stanko was a world-renowned Polish trumpet player known for his avant-garde free jazz. Beginning his career in the 1960s with the popular group The Jazz Darings and collaborating with various other Jazz greats throughout the 70s, Stanko had built enough of a reputation by 1975 to form his own jazz ensemble with long time friend and pianist Adam Markowicz. Though Stanko lost his natural teeth in the early 90s and was forced to retrain himself to play the trumpet with dentures, a rare feat to attempt, Stanko was just as talented of a performer as ever.
