Boston's The Dresden Dolls are a self-proclaimed punk cabaret duo known for its over the top live performances reminiscent of a vaudeville circus that includes heavy makeup, costumes and planned performances by fans, like stilt walking, fire-eating and performance art. The band's music incorporates witty, offbeat lyrics either shouted or whispered by Amanda Palmer, cabaret piano and heavily structured drumming by Brian Viglione. While the band traces its roots from the dark cabaret movement of the early 90s, the two didn't meet and begin performing until 2000. Since then The Dresden Dolls have created a very recognizable style and image and have garnered a diverse fan base around the world.
