Michelle Williams is an R&B singer/songwriter and producer from Rockford, IL who rose to fame as one-third of the Grammy Award-winning female group Destiny's Child. After joining the group in 2002 and releasing the critically acclaimed album Survivor, along with Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland, in 2001, Williams became the first member of Destiny's Child to pursue a solo career. Inspired by the worlds of hip-hop and gospel music, she released her debut album, Heart To Yours, in 2002. She transitioned into acting with the role of Toni Braxton in the 2003 production of Aida, and went on to play Roxie Hart in West End and Broadway productions of Chicago. Williams continued to record and perform with Destiny's Child until the group went on an hiatus in 2004 and continues to release her own solo material, including 2008's Unexpected.
