The Australian Celtic punk rock band, The Rumjacks, shot into the limelight when the video of its song "An Irish Pub Song" went viral on YouTube. It was formed in Sydney in 2008 by Frankie McLaughlin and Johnny McKelvey, who later roped in Gabriel Whitbourne, Anthony Matters and Adam Kenny. Within a year of its formation, it released the EP Hung, Drawn & Portered, followed by the six-track EP Sound as a Pound, dropped later that year. The Rumjacks became a household name with the release of its first full-length album, 2010's Gangs of New Holland. In the wake of its new-found success, it took to touring in not only Australia but across Europe as well. In 2012, the band went on a hiatus after running into a few roadblocks. It returned strong in 2015 with the issue of its second album Sober and Godless, which earned critical acclaim and helped the band regain its former glory. It has since released many popular songs including "A Fistful O' Roses," "The Pot & Kettle," "Uncle Tommy," "The Jolly Executioner" and "Patron Saint o' thieves." Throughout its career, the Rumjacks has also collaborated with the likes of The Moorings, The Rumpled, The Clan and Maleducazione Alcolica, among others.
