In the business since the burgeoning stage of the London jazz scene, Yussef Dayes is a gifted drummer. Born to a Jamaican father in South East London, Dayes was gifted his first set of drums at the age of four by his father. His musical sensibilities developed by listening to his mother's country music and pop collection, and his father's treasure trove of reggae and jazz. However important his parents' contribution was to his musical development, it was the opportunity to be mentored by Billy Cobham that paved the way for a career in music. He formed the group United Vibrations with his brothers Ahmad and Kareem and began playing at venues in South London even before reaching his teens. Dayes spent several years in the group and then later on in a duo called Yussef Kamaal. His career hit a roadblock after the duo split, but Dayes eventually found his footing through collaborations with artists like Alfa Mist and Rocco Palladino. In 2020, he released the album What Kinda Music, which featured the tracks "Nightrider," "What Kinda Music" and "Tidal Wave," among others.
