Ben Weaver is an American singer-songwriter based out of the Midwest. His roots expand far beyond his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota, however. After just one year of college, Weaver dropped out to travel the world and pursue a career in music. His albums, often recorded in quick bursts with little to no rerecording or overdubs, are defined by intimate and folky guitar/banjo plucking, a dark tinge of 90s indie rock and Weaver's gruff, rustic voice - which has often garnered him comparisons to Tom Waits. It may be jumping the gun a bit to expect a 30 year-old to fill those grizzled shoes, but Weaver is carving out a nice niche for himself in the singer-songwriter genre, nonetheless.
