Taking influences from gypsy punk and alternative rock, WOODENBOX (formerly Woodenbox with A Fistful Of Fivers) is a Scottish six-piece band. Highly influenced by the spaghetti western film scores of Ennio Morricone, the group took its name from combining various movie titles Morricone scored. This influence also comes through in the song's lyrical content--lost luck, siesta serenades and criminals--all sung in a distinctly Scottish accent. The group's debut album, Hang The Noose, is full of Balkan horns, acoustic guitar and a steady rhythmic beat--all of which has become characteristic of Woodenbox's sound.
