Estados Alterados (Altered States in English) is a new wave/electronic rock band from Columbia that reunited in 2007 after taking a hiatus from performing in the mid-90s. Following the band's formation in 1987, Estados Alterados continued into the 90s as one of Latin America's foremost pioneers of electronic rock, a genre that had never truly gained a foothold there prior. After releasing its eponymous debut album in 1991, Estados Alterados went on to earn video spots on Latino MTV, popularizing electronic rock in the region on a much larger scale. Despite fans' distress at the band's end to live performing in the mid-90s, Estados Alterados' reunion concert in 2007 would be performed for an audience of over 80,000.
