Las Robertas is a group from San Jose, Costa Rica that blends a 60s girl group sound with a more modern 90s alt-rock influence to create a unique style of music that comes off as a modern interpretation of the surf rock genre. Founded in 2009 by three individuals with a shared love of vintage music and jangly guitars, Las Robertas managed to grab the attention of the notable indie rock label, Art Fag Records, shortly after its inception, securing a distribution for the group's debut LP, Cry Out Loud. With virtually none of the band's songs featuring any prominent guitar, bass or drum solos, the trio isn't necessarily the most skilled set of instrumentalists. Nevertheless, Las Robertas manages to write catchy nostalgic pop tunes that are well-suited for listeners who crave the infectious sounds of yesteryear.
