Weekend

With the release of its debut album, Sports, in 2010, the San Francisco trio Weekend instantly became one of the most innovative forces on the lo-fi scene. Whereas most of the other bands in the Bay Area's inordinate lo-fi movement delve into San Francisco's tradition of sunny pop or overused psychedelia, Weekend takes the dark, noisy sound of bands - like My Bloody Valentine and the Jesus and Mary Chain - and applies it to deceptively catchy pop songs, obscured under an ocean of gritty distortion.
