The atmospheric little village of Axams is situated on a 900m-high plateau, some 9km from Innsbruck. Axams is a popular ski resort during the winter, but the summer is much more laid back and peaceful with one exception: every August, thousands of Tyrolese flock to Axams for its village festival. The festival lasts three days and features brass bands, dancing in traditional costume, and plenty to eat and drink. The festival provides tourists with a fine opportunity to experience a bit of authentic Austrian culture. Held at Dorfplatz Axams.
