Difficult to pigeonhole, Berlin-based band Paris Suit Yourself blends African rhythms with Western post-rock, cartoonish voices with serious songwriting and synthy electronics with ragtime piano. This series of contrasts keeps the potentially over-the-top styles in check, though--preventing the three ex-pats from Arkansas, Paris and Bordeaux respectively, from taking any one aspect of their music too far, even though they do walk a fine line. However, it's this potential of going too far that makes the band's fairly chaotic live performance highly entertaining and certainly worth checking out.
