During the mid-1970s, a group of studio musicians (who appeared on a number of albums from bands and musicians like Steely Dan, Seals & Crofts, Boz Scaggs and Sonny & Cher) decided to form a band of their own that'd capitalize off impressive musicianship and artful song composition. The group, called Toto, would release its eponymous titled debut LP in 1978 and the album managed to perfectly encapsulate a unique sound that blended soft and progressive rock sounds with a strong adherence to stunning studio production and dense, yet well placed, instrumentation. After releasing a succession of albums throughout the 1980s, the band had built a solid name for itself and grew to become one of the best selling American bands of its generation. Toto would experience a number of lineup changes over the years and a fall-off in popularity in the 1990s and 2000s, resulting in lead singer/songwriter Steve Lukather leaving the band in 2008--subsequently forcing the remaining members to dissolve the group shortly thereafter. Although, in 2010, Lukather and his former band mates decided to reconcile and hit the road once again to play concerts that still managed to draw upon the frenetic musical prowess of all the members in the group.
