Lou Christie is a singer/songwriter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who is best known for his string of pop hits in the 1960s. Though raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Christie started his career in New York City, where he found work as a session vocalist. After recording a number of tracks that failed to gain popularity, Christie shifted his singing style to falsetto and managed to gain a rather large fan base that swooned at his 1962 song "The Gypsy Cried." Though his popularity has since faded after the 1960s, Christie has nevertheless carried on and kept up a respectable touring and recording schedule.
