Olenka and the Autumn Lovers

Firmly rooted in the traditions of Canadian indie folk popularized by the likes of Arcade Fire, but touched with Eastern European influences similar to the music of Beirut, Olenka and the Autumn Lovers doesn't hide its members' cultural backgrounds. While the majority of the band grew up in Ontario, Canada, front-woman Olenka Krakus grew up in communist Poland and fittingly, Balkan musical tropes as well as lyrical messages related to social injustice filter into the band's music. Since forming in 2008, the band has received warm praise throughout Canada.
