Because a few members of the Chicago-based experimental rock/electronica band Mahjongg hold college degrees in mathematics, the group's affection for number has infiltrated its music. The band often composes songs in abstract prime number time signatures and even though there are hardly any vocals in the group's music, all the members of the band are able to communicate discrete messages with their instruments that speak to the very nature of a person's collective conscious. Mahjongg formed in 2005 and by playing a number of shows - wowing audiences with its stunning attention to detail - the band has made a name for itself and is considered, by many, to be one of the leading bands of the modern experimental music scene.
