Gaining recognition for his YouTube covers of Deerhunter, Animal Collective and Ariel Pink - which received nods from the original artists - Colin Caulfield, who performs under the pseudonym Young Man, makes his influences very known. Blending the hazy bedroom aesthetic of Ariel Pink, the quirky experimental electronics of Animal Collective and the sun-soaked reverb of Deerhunter, Young Man is very much a product of this day and age in music. However, true to his moniker, Young Man maintains a cheerful innocence and naivety about his music, choosing to sing from the perspective of a child. Though the Chicago-based musician doesn't offer up anything particularly groundbreaking, his sunny chillwave is charming nonetheless.
