Birmingham, Alabama quartet Vulture Whale walks the line between philosophy and sarcasm in its lyrics, American and British in its accents, and Americana and rock n' roll in its genre. Creating music that is somewhat of a parody of itself and of the Americana genre as a whole, the band sings about typical country topics, but pairs them with catchy and enjoyable Southern garage rock hooks. Enjoying its satirical standpoint from its inception in 2007, the band soon became bored and decided to throw in another genre to satirize: Britpop. Donning ridiculous cockney accents, the band still retained its lyrical content of country cliches, but paired it with more Britpop musical tendencies, making the whole style even more outlandish - a bizarre blending of Birmingham, Alabama with Birmingham, England. Regardless of the direction it takes, Vulture Whale consistently is a crowd-pleaser, both for its comedy and instrumental prowess.
