Though better known for the film work he has appeared in, Klaus Hoffmann's first love was music. Born and raised around Berlin, Hoffmann started his career as a singer/songwriter in the city's multifaceted club scene in the late 1960s, but after traveling to Afghanistan in 1968, Hoffmann had a change of heart and began training at an acting academy in Berlin. Since 1974 Hoffmann has starred in numerous stage and television productions and in 1976 he became fairly famous for acting in the lead role of the well received film adaptation of Ulrich Plenzdorf's Die neuen Leiden des jungen W. Though he has maintained a busy acting career, the multi-talented German has also kept a respectful career as a soft rock singer/songwriter, starting with his 1974 debut album. Hoffmann has since managed to release over 30 albums and play regular shows in and around Germany.
