Many music historians consider the British band A.R. Kane to be one of the more criminally undervalued bands to have ever existed. Formed in 1986 by Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala, two prominent figures of the 1980s East London music scene, the duo started making a style of music that'd go on to influence artists who'd have prolific careers in the trip hop, acid house, dream pop and post rock genres. By creating songs that blended sparse, yet astute, instrumentation, with ethereal vocals, A.R. Kane managed to become a critical darling, albeit under-appreciated by most audiences, during its short career from 1986 to 1994, and to the surprise of many, the group even managed to score a worldwide hit with the single "Pump up the Volume."
