Stevie Ray Vaughan was an American singer/songwriter and guitar player who built a reputation as one of the best blues guitarists of his generation. Raised in Austin, Texas, Vaughn was exposed to the vast world of music that exists in Austin's nightlife. He began playing at a young age and after gigging at various bars around Austin he was noticed by A&R people who soon signed him. Texas Flood, Vaughan's 1982 debut album, helped establish the musician as a world class guitarist, attracting the admiration of noted players like Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and B.B. King. Tragically, Vaughan's life was cut short in 1990 after a helicopter he was riding in after one of his shows crashed.
