Havok is a thrash metal band that emerged out of Denver, Colorado, in 2004. Driven by a love for classic metal outfits like Metallica and Slayer, lead vocalist and guitarist David Sanchez started the project with a couple of high school classmates and eventually recorded and self-released Havok's debut EP, Pwn Them All, in 2007. The record caught the attention of the extreme metal label Candlelight Records, and Havok went on to release its first full-length album, Burn, with the imprint in 2009. Despite several major lineup changes that left Sanchez as its only remaining founder, the band has earned a widespread fan base among the metal community as it continues to release records, such as 2013's Unnatural Selection.
