Underground cult favorite Television Personalities was formed in the UK in 1978 by Dan Treacy, who has been the band's only constant member since its inception. Known for its neopsychedelic, post-punk tinged music full of wry, campy lyrics, Television Personalities is considered the precursor to many popular UK bands of today, particularly the Arctic Monkeys, which Treacy is rumored to write the music for. While it never found mainstream success in its home country, the band did garner a respectable following in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. Television Personalities continues to release albums, perform and influence UK indie rockers.
